  • Use a small, sturdy box or padded mailer — don't use an envelope for ashes
  • Place ashes in a sealed zip-lock bag and then a small airtight container
  • Double-bag ashes and tape the seal before boxing
  • Wrap fragile botanicals in tissue paper to preserve their form
  • Include a printed note inside with your name and order details
  • Label the inner bag clearly: "Cremation Remains — Handle with Care"
  • Send only a small amount of ashes — a teaspoon is plenty for most pieces
  • Place fur / hair in a small labeled envelope or zip-lock bag

Frequently Asked Questions

For ashes, I typically need just one to two teaspoons — a very small amount. For fur or hair, a small pinch is plenty. For dried flowers or botanicals, a small handful works beautifully. I will always return any leftover inclusions to you along with the finished piece.
Yes — USPS is the only US carrier legally permitted to ship cremated remains (per USPS Publication 139). The prepaid label I send is USPS Priority Mail Express with "Cremated Remains" declared, which provides the highest level of care and tracking. I walk you through exactly how to pack them safely.
From the time I receive your items, most pieces take 2–4 weeks to complete depending on complexity. Rush orders may be available — please let me know if you have a deadline and I'll do my very best to accommodate you.
I send progress photos before the final seal so you can approve the look. I want you to love it completely. Minor adjustments at that stage are always welcome. Because each piece is custom and handmade, slight variations in color and texture are part of the beauty — no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
All unused inclusions are carefully returned to you in a sealed container, packaged with your finished piece. Nothing is ever discarded or combined with materials from other clients. Your loved one's remains are always kept separate and treated with complete reverence.
Absolutely — this is actually one of the most beautiful things I do. Many families send ashes once and I create individual pieces for each family member. Please mention this in your form and I'll create a package quote for you.
